Paperclip Cards is a leading supplier of high quality greetings cards and stationery, with a distribution network that stretches throughout the world. The company prides itself on producing cutting edge contemporary card designs and supplies some of the leading card retailers throughout the United Kingdom.
As part of a Trans European organisation, Paperclip has grown into one of the most respected greetings card publishers in Europe. The company has a strong presence in the UK, with a new design studio being established in January 2006 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
In July 2009 a further new design studio was opened in the picturesque Spa town of Bath, Somerset, immediately attracting some of the leading greetings card designers in the industry.
Paperclip Cards initially got in touch with First Choice Business Systems after experiencing problems with the printer at their Bath studio. The device, which was used for producing high quality proofs, as well as general office printing, was proving unreliable and lacked some of the flexibility the company really needed.
In late 2009 Paperclip was considering different options, including purchasing a warranty for their existing printer and upgrading to a new device.
“We made an enquiry on First Choice’s website because we wanted some help and advice on what would be the best solution for our company” explained Jodie Porter, Senior Designer at Paperclip Cards. “We are reliant on printing and needed to speak to someone who really understood our requirements – which is exactly what First Choice did right from the start. They far surpassed anyone else in this area and so choosing them was a ‘no brainer’ really.”
After assessing the current situation and requirements of the company in detail, First Choice recognised that Paperclip Cards was an expanding organisation with an ever increasing and ever more demanding print output, both in terms of volumes and quality requirements. The company was printing around 3,000 pages per month, and because of the nature of producing proofs for the cards, Paperclip really needed a printer which was better suited to printing with a high level of quality, flexibility and accuracy - things which are crucial in this environment. It also needed to be able to cope with even higher volumes and demands in the future as the company grows.
First Choice recommended a Xerox DocuColor 242, a production machine which is specifically designed for this sort of environment.
“The device is great. The quality of the print is stunning and it’s proving reliable, something which is essential to us” said Jodie.
